Common Footprints of Old Virgins, or Finding Sites to Buy for SEO

40 Year Old VirginSince there’s an upcoming session at SMX advanced titled “Buying Sites for SEO“, I figured the timing is finally right to hit the publish button on a post I wrote long ago about finding quality sites to purchase for SEO benefits.

The first time that I published this was about 2 1/2 years ago, and I was quickly asked by a well known SEO expert and friend (I won’t name any names, but he’s on the panel at the “buying sites” SMX session) to remove the post and wait until buying old virgin sites was common knowledge.

Webmasters Of The World, Unite And Take Over

Sigh…what a crazy couple of weeks it’s been…yes I’m referring to Google’s scare tactics on paid linking and link networks. To be honest, I’m still trying to make sense of it all. It definitely left me scratching my head about some of the sites that were affected, including a few of my own.

That’s one of my favorite recent movie quotes, and it certainly lends itself well to the life of a competitive webmaster/SEO.

For about the past year, I’ve been supplementing my income by purchasing (and in some cases creating) sites for the sole purpose of later repackaging and selling at a higher price. I’ve also gotten WAY more serious lately about domaining, or SEOmaining as it’s been coined, which is a much more accurate description. I’ll save that for a future post strictly about my experiences so far with domaining.

SEOmoz Premium SEO Training Seminar

I’ll be attending the SEOmoz training seminar on October 1st, and I’m actually making a vacation out of the trip. After sightseeing in Seattle we’re heading up to Canada. I’ve been to Victoria, BC twice and will be making my third trip there a few days after the seminar.
